Thomas C. Stansberry

Stansberry, 81, Kokomo, passed away at 8:19 am Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo.  He was born January 18, 1936, in Fairmont, WV, the son of the late Milford Creed & Venadel Naomi (Yost) Stansberry.  On October 4, 1958, he married Cecelia A. Rowand and she survives.Thomas was a 1954 graduate of West Fairmont Senior High School in WV, and a 1962 graduate of the Milwaukee School of Engineering, where he was a member of Kappa Eta Kappa.  He served with the United States Marine Corp, earning the rank of Sergeant. Thomas retired from General Motors as a Senior Electrical Engineer after 40 years of service.  He was a member of Fairfield Christian Church, and the Kokomo Jaycees, where he served as past president.  Thomas enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, camping, traveling, and was an avid Indiana University basketball fan. Thomas is survived by his wife, Cecelia A. Stansberry, Greentown; children, Christina (Christopher) Avery, Kokomo, and Diana (Kiah) Stansberry-Sando, Greentown; grandchildren, Courtnay (Adam) Titus, Kokomo, and Taylor (Nicholas) Stansberry-Matthews, Goshen; great-grandchildren, Royal G. Titus, and Lincoln C. Titus, both of Kokomo; grand fur baby, Nola Matthews; sister-in-law, Joyce Stansberry, Kokomo and brother-in-law, Arley Simmons, Fairview, WV along with several special nieces and nephews.Thomas was preceded in death by his Parents, Milford & Avis Stansberry, and Venadel & John C. Johnson, brother, Kenneth David Stansberry, sister, Sue Hannah Simmons, and step-sister, Mary Catherine Stephens; brothers-in-law, Harry (Jackie) Rowand, Joseph “Dick” (Julie) Rowand, Thomas (Sandra) Rowand.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, August 11, 2017, at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo, with Pastor Lynn Coleman officiating and his nephew, Pastor Jacob Stansberry to offer the eulogy.  Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Marine Corp and the Kokomo Milita...
